Second Creek Headwall

Gigapixel Panorama

This was my first real attempt at a true “gigapixel” image. It was captured on a backcountry ski trip near Winter Park, Colorado with a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens at 300mm. The Second Creek Headwall towers over Broome Hut and offers some incredible ski descents when snow conditions allow.

The resulting stitched image is 1,445 megapixels and could easily be printed as large as 10 feet tall and 63 feet wide while retaining incredible detail even viewed up close. The viewer below contains a significantly downsized version of the original image to give some sense of the scale and detail included in this image.
