Colorado Scenes

Some of my favorite images from our various adventures around Colorado

I captured this image while my wife and I were in Steamboat for our tenth wedding anniversary. It was September and we were treated to some early season snow while the aspens were still showing their full fall colors. I love the contrast between the golden leaves and the white snow and fog.

This is Joe Mills Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park. I snowshoed in with all my camera gear with the intention of getting to Odessa Lake, but it got a bit too late and I had to turn back before I could get there. But not before capturing some shots of Joe Mills Mountain that I really liked. Make sure to stay safe in avalanche terrain! This was from my first winter in Colorado and in retrospect I put myself in some dangerous situations due to a lack of knowledge about avalanche danger. It’s not just something that backcountry skiers need to be aware of - you can trigger an avalanche on snowshoes as well!

This was taken not far from our house in Loveland during the Cameron Peak Fire in 2020. Longs Peak and Mount Meeker can be seen through the smoke. As sad as it was to see some of our favorite places burn, the smoke and fires made for some interesting lighting and images.

The fire burned from August to December and became the largest in Colorado history - burning over 200,000 acres.

From my first 14er, which for some reason I chose to do in the snow. This is the view from the top of Quandary Peak (14,271 feet) on a beautiful March day.

My son, Cael, at Great Sand Dunes National Park. What a cool and unique place this is! Such a stark difference from the surrounding landscape. This was our first camping trip with our daughter who was just three months old at the time.
